I was invited to visit Cuba
+ Consejo Artístico de Puerto Rico
to experience Cuba’s land and culture.
As a photographer, my main goal was to well, photograph.
I had always felt compelled to visit Cuba because for years, I studied its golden light through photographs. I set journey yearning to find that particular light, but during my time there, what I got were dark clouds, pouring rain, super cold weather, and the 2019 tornado!
I felt a bit disappointed, but I tried to make do. I didn’t leave Habana until I found pockets of light (although sometimes artificial) which fulfilled my expectations.
I learned to work with what I had.
patience is key to making photographs, and TO anything really.
